We welcome your visit to Bishop Hill Illinois and The Colony Hospital Bed and Breakfast. There is much to explore in Bishop Hill and in surrounding Henry County. Please visit Bishop Hill’s Calendar of Events for additional festivities. We would be happy to make additional recommendations to make your stay exactly what you hoped for!

Bishop Hill – A place where time stands still, Bishop Hill is a treasure to experience over and over again. It is a distinctive blend of the past and present history, culture, art and architecture. Living and working together in this Utopia are descendants of the original colonists, artisans with a wide range of talents and new settlers who’ve discovered Bishop Hill’s charm.

Bishop Hill Colony Bakery and the Mustard Cupboard – Sample artisan breads, pastries, cookies, muffins, specialty Swedish items and so much more! Enjoy a mug of hearty soup and a delicious sandwich for lunch or an early dinner. Check out the wonderful gift shop in the back room at the bakery. The Mustard Cupboard features an ever-changing display of American primitive antiques, candles, handcrafted wares, textiles, French soaps, stitcheries and original paintings.

Bishop Hill Pottery and VagnHall Galleri – Drop in to see Bishop Hill’s potter at work making functional high-fired stoneware. Located in the Prairie Arts Center (Colony Blacksmith Shop) which also features a selection of handcrafted fiber arts, rugs, brooms and more! VagnHall Galleri is a fine art galleri offering one of a kind original art. New exhibits monthly and exceptional meeting space available for rent.

The Village Smithy – A delightful quilt shop with a large assortment of homespun and calico fabrics, handmade quilted items, new and vintage quilts for sale, woven rugs, gift items plus antiques and collectibles. Machine quilting services are also available.

Windy Corner Farm – The Feathered Nest at Windy Corner Farm is the studio of Beth Ann Magnuson, an exceptional artist who creates Victorian Lace Egg ornaments, Magick (marbled) eggshells, everlasting floral arrangements and seasonal wreaths, miniature silhouette portraits and feathered masks. Also available are a collection of vintage jewelry, amber glassware and a line of carefully chosen collectible copper, brass and aluminum giftware dating from the 50s through the 90s. By appointment.
